Appointments and Visits

We have adopted the new telephone based appointment service giving you quicker access to your doctor.

When you have a health problem, you can now have an appointment by telephone and speak directly to your doctor by phone on the day that you call. You can use the telephone appointment service for urgent and non-urgent health problems.

This is how it works-

Call us on our main surgery telephone number 01299 827171 and ask to make a telephone appointment with the doctor. The doctor will always try to call you back as soon as possible, but please be aware that some days are busier than others, such as a Monday. In most cases, you should expect a call within 1-2 hours. If you are registered with Patient Access to use out online services, you can also make same-day telephone appointments with a doctor of your choice.

The receptionist will ask you for your name and telephone number. If you need to speak to the doctor urgently if it is an emergency, tell the receptionist straightaway.

The receptionist will ask you for some general details of what your health problem is to put the information on for the doctor. You don't have to tell the receptionist if you do not wish to, but if you can, it helps the doctor decide whom to prioritise for a call based on clinical need.

If you want to talk to a specific doctor, please tell the receptionist. Wherever possible, they will arrange it, but if the doctor of your choice is unavailable, you will be able to book a telephone consultation with one of our other doctors. Please see the staff tab to see the doctors working days/hours.

If you want us to call you between certain times, please tell the receptionist and where possible, we will arrange that.

If your doctor things you need to come into the surgery to be seen, they will make appointment for you. However, if the doctor can resolve your health concern during the telephone call, either by prescribing medication or advice, this will be done.

Appointments with our Nursing team for procedures such as blood tests, post natal checks, coil fittings, dressings, injections etc, will continue to be booked as usual and appointments will continue to be available in advance. Other services such as physiotherapy, counselling, and long term condition clinic e.g Asthma, Diabetes, COPD, etc, will also continue to be booked as usual and appointments will be available in advance.
